I am new to e-commerce. I was in the market for a digital camera. I called accessories land and spoke with "james" (the owner supposedly) and told him I was leary of entering my credit card # over the net.
I asked for the coolpix 4800 only. He told me I need to buy the battery, the card reader, a memory card and a extended warranty. I said no than you just the camera. He did not listen. He said I can not use it without the battery, or memory card. The camera was 259.99. I again said just the camera. I explained that this comes with the battery. I agreed on the 512 high speed mb memory card for 69.99.
So the deal was agreed on the camera, and memory card plus 20.00 for shipping. If I agree he will throw in a case that is worth 49.99 and a card reader worth 79.99. (the case is worth 10 maybe) I asked for an email of the invoice. James agreed. I asked for the invoice to be itemized.
The camera arrived with a receipt of 490.00. It Should have been 349.98, which he confirmed over the phone. The memory card was a 256 normal speed and there was a cheap battery included. There was only a total price. No itemizing.
I called immediately and asked for James. He was unavailable. I asked for a return call which never happened. I caaled again and spoke with someone and they told me I cannot just return the accessories even though I did not order them I said I will send it all back. He told me it would cost me 40% for re-stocking. I was yelled at and he swore at me. Eventually He knocked 100.00 off which did show up.
I told him the card reader did not arrive. He said that would cost me extra and there is nothing I can do. I sent 2 letters explaining this mess and asked for my card reader. I have not heard from them. I am worried that they have my card # on file. They still owe me a card reader and 40.00.
I am very upset over this and this leave a very bad image as this was my first transaction over the internet. I hope all of us that got ripped off get some sort of reimbursment.
