Rip off for pre paid cell phone air time

Originally when I started to used the TRACFONE prepaid service, one of the big attaractions was that your air time you paid for was always valid even if your phone went inactive and you would never lose it no matter how long you were inactive. There was no time limit. To make a long story short my phone was inactive for three months. I had 100 minutes left when my service went inactive. When I activated the new air time card the 100 minutes I had was gone.

After I activated the card I lost the 100 minutes, a call to TRACFONE customer service informed me that they have since changed their policy on that matter and now after two months of inactivity they throw your unused minutes away.

It was only 100 minutes of air time worth about $40.00, not really a show stopper for me but imagine the money they are making on this ripping hundreds of thousands, potentially millions of other custermers off for 40.00 here and there every month. That is $4,000, 000 or more every two months, six times a year for sums in excess of 24 million dollars.

WOW, what a way to initially make money and rip pepole off. That is until people get wise to it and drop the service or adhear to the two month limit.

My main issue with all of this is that this is a significant change in the way of doing business with customers and I feel TRACFONE did not take adequite measures to inform their existing long term customers of the change giving them the option of buying minutes before two month limit was exceeded, using their minutes they paid for before dropping the Tracfone service, allowing their minute to be lost, or any combination there of.

I was never informed of this and I certain there are others who can make this claim also. Another issue I with TRACFONE ia that the people answering the phone there are non english speaking. It take five or six times explaining your situation to them to eventually get it right. You can't much less understand them and they do not want to work with you on any type of situation like this. They adhere to their rules and regulations and you get absolutely no satisfaction or acceptable resoloution for the issue at hand. I would like to look into starting a class action suit against Tracfone.

Thank you.
