Due to my husband's USCG orders to Hawaii, I had to close my store in Virginia. I sent a letter to Ladco asking to be released from the lease for credit card machine due military obligation. Ladco did not respond, is now harrassing me, and their representatives verbally claim that the Soldiers and Sailors Act does not apply. They refuse to negotiate any terms other than complete payment for a service that I cannot use due to our transfer. Additionally they will not communicate as to when they intend to file for a judgement against me. My husband is trying to get an appointment with a Jag to help us, and I will file a dispute with the Credit Bureau, BBB, etc, but the damage has already been done.
Like many of you have already experienced, Ladco is hitting a dead bank account, although I informed them that the account would close, and requested they stop. They are adding on the various return fees, late charges, loss waiver fee, and property taxes as fast as thier little typists can enter the data.
Military spouses should be protected from companies that refuse to honor the sacrifices that our service members make for this country. It unreasonable Ladco to expect a military wife to move a store across the continent and an ocean in order honor a simple lease agreement. Further, I did a Internet search on them, and found that there are folks all over the country that are being ripped off by Ladco. You need to check out this company's business practices.
