Approximately 4 Months ago I mailed my Rebate Form. It was 6/30/04 and the last day that my rebate could be postmarked by before it was void. Luckily I remembered and made it to the post office with both completed forms in hand. I sent them and awaited confirmation of my rebates. A little over a month later (8/5/04) I recieved the e-mails. They had confirmed that both Rebates would be in my mailbox in 4-6 weeks.
It has been over 10 weeks and no check. Feeling cheated, and very pissed, I gave them a call on the telephone number listed on their site. After calling I had to sit through a very annoying message detailing what must be done to properly send in a Rebate. There was no way to bypass it and so I sat there.in the message it said that once it was completed I would be able to speak with a representative. I waited approximately 10 minutes after that message. There was no music and I could hear the background sounds of someone typing on a keyboard so I was obviously not on hold. Twice I heard someone try to say something into the phone then nothing... My words recieved no reply, no matter what I asked, or yelled.
When I finally was able to speak with someone he gave me some sort of excuse about the computers going down and losing track of rebates. After asking to speak with his Manager, Elizabeth, I was informed that two printers were down and she said that this was the reason my checks were not printed. I explained to her that this explanation was Bull shit since 8 weeks is more than enough time to replace printers and get back on schedule... Well not precisely like that but I do believe I got the point accross.
Anyway, she explained that she would add my checks to the next batch meant to be printed in a week, and then I would have to wait another week for my checks to go through the mail. This will mean that I'll have waited a total of 12 weeks... 3 months, for my money. The checks Im waiting for are for a total of $80 for 2 Western Digital 200GB Hard Drives that I purchased late MAY.
Rebates are crap, and OnRebate.com is a very poorly managed company. Im certain that their method of making a Profit is by hoping that people miss the void date, or just forget about their checks after sending in the forms.
