I got a phone call from this women on 10/01/04 saying that I had a debt from 4 yrs ago from Dominion Virginia Power in the amount of $68.18. I told her that I had already payed them before we transfered to Nebraska and havent heard anything else from them on any further debt.
The lady proceeded to degrade me and harrass me over the phone I told her to send me something in writting she said I could give her my credit card or checking account info over the phone to take care of it I told her I dont give that Info over the phone and that she had to send me something in the mail she said we already sent something I told her I never recieved it so before I knew it she proceeded to verify my address and phone number to me. (which are unlisted) She then asked me to verify the last 4 digits of my SS# I told her I didn't know that information so she then proceeded to read off my SS# to me I got upset and told her according to the privacy act law she couldnt just give out that info she told me she could do anything she wanted and there was nothing that I could do.
After fighting back and forth about this the lady finally told me that this was the last time they would send me something and hung up on me.
I then dialed *69 to get the phone number and called them back after being told the Supervisor was out to lunch I got transfer to a vm, so I called back and someone by the name of Calvin hughs answered I told him I wanted to talk with someone in charge about the issue I had with them giving out my ss# over the phone he put someone on the phone by the name of Jason Regal who said he was a supervisor I explained my issue to him and not only did I get the run around but he prceeded to verify my SS# again 6 times and told me he could care less if I payed my bill because it was my credit he was going to "F" up and then he hung up on me.
I ended up calling back about 5 times and got the run around and was degraded and harrased and had my SS# verified at least 3 more times before I got a hold of a man that I cried and pleaded with to just HELP me he then informed me that Jason Regal was not a Supervisor and that the Supervisor went by the name of Joseph Stone. I asked to speak with him and the man said he could not get my account up and that he would have to call me back and never did.
I am not sure how to handle this but these people literally had me scared and in tears with the private information they had about me and are useing against me!!! Them having my SS# and just giving it to anyone who answers my phone is really scary!!!
