MTC Trucking
Bad business practices is only the beginning!

I went to MTC the second week of July. The class I was in had a total of thirty people. After the drug test and DOT testing was done, there was twenty eight left. The first week wasn't really nothing more than learning what was in the CDL manual. We all went and took our written test at DMV for our permits.

I will say that the class I was in was a good class. There wasn't many in the class that I didn't like. None of us was too happy about the living arrangements that they had us in. We stayed at the Lodge Hotel. There was mold on the walls, the elevators stunk like urine, drug pushers, pimps doing business, cops and swat showing up at least once a day and the manager wasn't very nice. The food that they fed us wasn't very healthy. Pizza, cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches from McDonald's and Wendy's, and they rotated the menu.

By the second week, I had the road and yard down to go to CDL but our class was so big that no one in our class got to go to test until the end of the third week and then only four or five students went. Most of us went into our fourth and fifth weeks before even testing. Every Monday, a new class arrived. There were always at least twenty students in each class.

Most days of being on the yard there was generally just one instructor for at least 15 students. The yard trucks are in poor condition and the road trucks aren't in much better condition. DOT actually stopped one of the road trucks while a student was driving. The school got a warning but could have raked up over $1200.00 in D.O.T. Fines. When I went to test, we were sent six hours away. When we got to the testing site, we couldn't use the trailer because it had a crack by the sliding tandem. All of the students, as well as the instructor were sleep deprived because of the long trip there. We were there all day and had to drive back. All of us had been awake for over 12 hours which is against the rules set in by DOT.

I can go on about the condition of the school and the conditions they have us stay in but that isn't the main reason for this complaint.

I had to leave and return home due to a death in the family. When I told Sandra, she told me to have the $125.00 to retake the CDL when I returned. When I tried to return following the funeral, she advised me that the company that had sponsored me had froze their accounts and no student could come in or out. When I called the company to talk to them, they told me that they had cancelled the contract with MTC. Sandra knew about the cancellation before I even left and hadn't said anything in regards to it to any of the students.

ALSO, they have this program now for veterans. If you are a veteran, do not go through this company to get training. They charge veterans a thousand dollars more for training than they do the others. There are other training schools that actually give discounts to veterans.

MTC lies to their students. They treat them horribly. They set them up to fail. Most of the students who do pass, have prior experience with driving a truck.
