NSS Magazine - SCUMBAGS

Theses SCUMBAGS have an unbelievable scam going.

1. They lure you in with the promise of "free" magazines - at half.com this is a pop-up ad and they tell you that they will charge you after 90 dayss but you can "cancel at any time for a full refund - just call the 800 number" (THERE IS NO NUMBER PROVIDED - I AM JUST SUPPOSED TO KNOW IT VIA OSMOSIS OR WHAT?)

2. So inevitably the 90 days elapses (you don't have any way to call and cancel because you don't have the 800 number). They charge your account EXACTLY on the 91st day.in my case they charged it for 3 magazines even though I never got 1 of the 3.

3. The charge appears with the 800 number (AH-HA!) and a supposedly 6-digit code (mine was only 5). When you call it, it's an auto attendant that asks for the 6 digit code - wouldn't accept the 5 digit one printed on my statement and when you press "0" hoping to get an operator, the auto attendant says "I'd like to help you, do you want my help?" Um, let me think about it... No, I'd much rather pay for something that I never received/don't want. So I say "yes" and am thrown back through a vicious loop to the main auto attendant menu! Finally I figure out if you say "no" - as in, no you idiot I want to talk to a real person - you get "customer service". What a joke.

4. Customer service is RUDE and says that I didn't respond to the post cards they sent asking me if I wanted to continue with the magazines. There was no postcard - I wish there had been - I would've called and cancelled - DUH! I get all of my credit card bills, student loans bills, etc. Every month without fail - but you mean to tell me that THIS PARTICULAR PIECE OF MAIL was sent and "must've gotten lost"? What a crock of you-know-what! Finally they agree to credit my account within 1-2 billing cycles. I don't think so - that means I get to pay interest charges for their mistake. I complain some more and they change it to 1-15 business days. I complain some more and they say the credit will go through today.

5. Well it didn't - they lied (SURPRISE!). I told them I was filing a complaint with the Attoryney General's Office - they gave me their (NSS) address as in Connecticut (5 Highrick Park Stanford 06905). I am filing a complaint with the AG and with half.com as well as writing to the 3 magazines to tell them about this unethical practice. I am also sending them my magazines torn up in little pieces to their CEO Michael Loeb. If I can find his home address via an internet search I will send them to his house.
