Trains

In last few months, about three or four nights a week, trains will stop on the tracks right next to my apartment complex and run their engines all night long (sometimes staying there for up to 3 days at a time). The train usually includes only 1 to 2 engines, but because our apartments are only about 35 yards from the track, an idling engine sounds like a 747 on take off that not even ear plugs can block out. I've called and spoken with several Norfolk dispatchers and representatives and always received the same answer: we'll check into that for you, ma'am. Each time I've called, nothing has come from it.

At this point, it is unacceptable that this continues to take place despite my efforts in bringing this to Norfolk Southern's attention. It is a complete noise disturbance and I have lost many hours of sleep because the engines are so loud and close to my living space that I am not able to drown out the noise. I am deeply disappointed in the lack of response on this company's end of things (I've called three nights this week alone) and, importantly, the lack of common sense from the train conductor to see that she/he is parked right next to a housing community.
