Norfolk Southern Corp
Providing Disturbing Trains in my Subdivision

90 days ago, I purchased my first home in a very small subdivision in Powder Springs, GA, I was aware of the railroad crossing, what I was not aware of was that Norfolk Southern had a rail yard up the way, I thought trains would only come thru every once in a while, I did not know trains come thru out the night in the wee hrs of the morning (no exaggeration) at all, but 5 and 6 trains trhru out the night is ridicoulous. I am just fit too be tied and this point I am at my wits end. I can no longer tolerate this, I have decided to back out of my mortgage and move somewhere else quieter. These trains effects my sleep and my work, when a person comes home you want to come home to a peaceful environment, to be honest, I have not had a peaceful night since I have been in my home also not to mention my sons bus picks him up at 7am since school has started his bus has been late numerous getting to school after 7:45 due to having to wait for 1 and 2 trains to pass in order to pick up the kids, this unacceptable.

I understand that by federal law that these trains must blow or whistle due for public safety, but its how these trains blow these guys actually hold the horns for long periods of time to me its I feel it's done on purpose and all they have to say is its the law, this is in the middle of the nights and when my sleep is broken with noises and sounds like that I can't go back to sleep, there is a 81 yrs old lady who lives beside me. I hadn't had a chance to meet her yet, but I will be checking her ears to see if she has a hearing aid and if she does then the trains probably dont bother her all she would have to do is take them out, I also have been told by one of my neighbors they have been fighting this for about 2 yrs they have had a attorney involved and petitions and also the news media and still no resolution, I don't know what to do anymore.

I fell in love with this house 1 yr ago, and I would hate to just leave this beautiful due to a train company who decided to put a railroad crossing next to a subdivision knowing that this would be disturbing to the residence, this company could at least build some type of sound proof wall to reduce the noise or assist in making this location a quiet zone, or something or consider some type of option to all residence of the subdivision. I myself have researched online to consider soundproofing all of my windows. I have a total of 16 windows price for soundproofing these windows will cost between $550 -$900 a piece and these prices does not include installation, as a single mother trying to take care and home and child trying to maintain the best that I can, I should not have to be out of this type of money and should not have to consider this because of a railroad company that has not put forth any efforts to try fix this issue, now I don't know any thing about railroad company or their policies, but with money this company makes this should be a simple fix.
