University of Phoenix
Financial aid Scammers

So in 2008 I was working full time and wanted to finish my education, I had multiple student loans that I felt I hadn't truly gotten anything out of because I never finished my degree. So University of Phoenix online was going to be my answer, I would finally finish my degree.

I finished my A.A.in Business in honestly I was not impressed with the classes but I know that the first two years tend to be more like high school then college. At the end of my program I received a phone call asking me if I had thought about what I was going to do next.

By this time I was running my own seasonal business so I knew financial aid wouldn't be an issue. The enrollment counselor told me that if there was ever a time during my B.S. Program that financial aid didn't cover the expenses that the University had a scholarship program that would cover the remaining expenses. Never was a time line mentioned other then it had to be during my Bachelors program that I had a need.

Fast forward to April 6, I had a question about my financial aid. I had emailed the head of the financial aid department and was told to contact my financial aid adviser. So I decided to call and talk to her this morning. Boy that was a bad decision.

She informed me that the University scholarship only came into affect if I had shown need at the beginning of this program. Who is going to show need when you get the max in financial aid because of your situation? The answer to that is NO ONE. So because of $204 the last $40,000 I have spent getting my degree with this business and the last two years of my life is wasted.

The thing that really bothered me is that I graduate in July, I was planning on going into their MBA program, lord knows they know how to run a business. When I mentioned that to the financial aid counselor she said that maybe is wasn't a good decision for me.

I am disgusted with this school/business and I urge anyone who is thinking of going, or that is currently attending... Get every communication through email of USPS. They like to call you over the phone and make promises that they don't intend on keeping and then pretend that they have no clue what you are talking about.

Beware
