I was bidding on tickets for a wrestling event on Ebay, when I was contacted by "Scott Anderson". He was supposedly sending an email to only 20 people regarding ringside seats and they were first come first serve. I emailed him back and began to ask questions. I wanted to know why he wasn't using Ebay and he said because they take a percentage out when you sell with them. He told me the price of the tickets would be 300.00 each and that if I bought all four the last two he would sell to me for the original price of 202.00 each. I decided to buy just two.
We arranged for payment and he told me that he doesn't like going to the bank so he didn't want a money order. He told me I could help him out because his son just got a new apartment and his birthday was coming up. He didn't want to give him cash and he wanted to buy him a new tv, so he asked for me to send the amount in a Best Buy gift card. For whatever reason, we followed through with that.
We sent the card FedEx priority mail overnight at the address he supplied, which we have now found out are college off-campus apartments and he doesn't even live there! We included an overnight envelope for him to send tickets.
A day or so passed and I kept emailing him. He told me that he was in the middle of a crisis with his child and that he would send it right away. The day before the event I spent all day waiting to hear from him, at that point we knew what had happened. He then emailed us again and said he would send us back the money by Tue. Morning, which never happened.
I have every email and even the fed ex package slip he signed. My lesson is this: do not make any transactions outside of ebay no matter how good the item is or how trustworthy the person may appear to be.
as far as you, "scott anderson", you will get yours. You are in the process of being investigated and you will be charged and you will be punished. Think again before you try to do this to someone else, just because I'm in another state means nothing!
