Hi. I have been stressing about this for couple days now and thought I should ask for some advices online before I even THINK about doing anything myself since. Well. Im not very good with law and papers. < I appreciate you, whoever it is reading this =D
I have been a student in this school since last year in the LVN course, and have recently withdrawn from the program. During my school year in Central Nursing College, I noticed the school was very poory managed, our instructors have changed many times due to issue with the school, our Director or Nursing has changed 3 times within like 10 months. The school faculty seems untrustworthy, and often asks the students to come sign papers and put the dates as far back as months back (most times, while class is in session which puts most students to a hurry). During the school, students have been released prior to the end of clinical hours countless times, the school can not keep up with their own course schedule (mainly due to constant switching of new teachers), they even had us take 4-6 tests in one day. Most, if not all the students seem to have issue with the school, but most of those who attend the school are from different ethnic backgrounds, most of them who have just recently arrived in the United States, or have poor English, making it hard for them to complain and the faculty seems to take the advantage of that fact. Many problems, including couple things above has made me withdraw from this school. Following the withdrawal from school I have ran into another problem with their refund papers.
The total amout for the entire course of LVN is $23,340.00 The total tuition paid to the school from my loan company Salle Mae was $18,340.00. Rest have been paid to the school by a government ETP grant as I was informed by the school.
Following the withdrawal from the school, I received a mail with a single page of calculations of my refund which stated that LVN tuition per hour is $15 an hour My total completed hours are $15x1,129hrs, total cost. =16,935.55 non-refundable fee of 215.00 total of $17,150.00.
Total amount paid to school $18,340.00 - $17,150.00 = $1,190.00 My total refund value.
Considering the school catalogs total clinical and instruction hours of 1616 (604 instruction hours 1012 clinical hours) I feel like the school is trying to give me less than they owe. According to the schools calculations, the total amount of instruction hours and clinical hours of 1129 hours costed me $17,150.00 and the remaining hours 1616 - 1129 = 487 hours = $1,190.00 I still have more than 1/4 of my total school hours left, but I have been only refunded less than 1/8 of the total amount paid to the school, and this is why I feel the school is trying to give me less money than they owe.
Using a calculator I came up with these numbers. If I was to pay the full $23,340 / 1616hrs = should still be only $14.44 in which case, $14.44 x 1129 = $16302.76 should be the total tuition fee
Total school tuition calculated with government grant. $18,340 / 1616 = $11.35 which should be the per-hour rate $11.35 x 1129 = $12814.15 which should be the total tuition fee. The above should be the fees charged by school according to my calculations. I was hoping this should be the refund price.
