DeVry University
Online, Missing credits, Program credit requirements increased in final semeste

I attended Southwestern College to earn an Associate Degree in Business Administration. Just before graduation I was told that Southwestern had an articulation agreement with DeVry in that 100% of the credits from Southwestern would transfer. I made an appointment with an admissions representative of DeVry. I told the admissions representative that my enrollment at DeVry would be contingent on the number of credits that would transfer.

At that time he told me he would have to confer with his superior and get back with me. About a week later he called to tell me that 62 credits would transfer; I thought that was acceptable as I knew many of the classes I had previously were somewhat inferior - so I decided to enroll. After I had taken classes for a year, I found that only 54 credits had been accepted. For the past year I have been trying to get an answer as to why there is a disparity and trying to have the missing 8 credits applied. I have had no success, no one will even discuss it.

When I enrolled in my program the credits required to complete the program was 122. At the time I enrolled for the courses I was currently taking, I was told that I would be taking my last courses, that the previously mentioned 8 credits would be applied, and I should be graduating in June. Now that I am theorhetically in my last courses, I found that the credit requirements have recently changed and I will still need an additional 12 credits, requiring another 4 months to complete.

In addition to this, those 8 credits still have not been applied. I am compelled to believe that the amending of the number of credits required to complete the program is for no other purpose than to force extended enrollment due to falling enrollment and withdrawls as a result of the economic climate.

I would not recommend that anyone attend DeVry.
