Kaplan University
Non-existant military admissions advisors, clever theivery Fort Lauderdale Florida

First they sold me "you can afford this, no out of pocket costs" then I could never reach anyone to fix the "financial aid" side of it. I was supposed to be entitled to both active duty GI bill and reserve TA, but supposedly my TA never came in to the school.
Their "student account" (ie collections dept) kept calling me and telling me that they never received my loan verifications. I explained a million times throughout the year that I never applied for a loan, and could not afford to. Also, they kept telling me that my Pell grant was not applied. I just called again because I got into it with their collections dept, and now they're telling me that my pell grant was applied! For both terms! And how can a login date mean anything as far as withdrawing from classes?! If they would have withdrew me when they were supposed to, I wouldn't HAVE ANY CLASSES TO SEE on the "Virtual Blackboard"!
$5,740 for FOUR 10-week classes?!?!?! That would be one year, full-time at a local community college! How can they get away with lying to me and telling me that I can afford it with no out of pocket costs and then stick me with a final bill of $2,874?!?! They said they are sending me to collections, so I plan to fully dispute this with Experian.

This is unbelievable. I'm 23 years old, served and serving my country, and they can try to reap all my benefits under false pretenses?!?! I wish there would have been someone out there to warn me about it. Unfortunately, a basic google search of "Kaplan University" brings up not much more than links to their website.

Being in the reserves and moving around a lot, and on orders every other month for weeks at a time I felt that the only way to get my degree was to take classes online. If I had to do it all over again I would have saved myself the grief, the time, the money, fighting with collections, and the future dispute I'm going to file to try to save my credit report, and I simply wouldn't have tried to go to school.

My question is: If the government can impose so many restrictions and regulations on individuals, why can't they restrict and regulate companies who try to defraud it's American citizens?
