If your are thinking of enrolling to Everest University, or WyoTech, or anything having to do with Corinthian Colleges please read this carefully!!! This school is a joke!!! I enrolled to Everest University which was known as Florida Metropolitan at the time around 2006. (This school has changed their name several times that alone is a bad sign). I did not have a car so I found that online courses would be convenient. I took the Criminal Justice program online with intentions to going to one of their campuses and going to a physical classroom. (MIND YOU'RE THE ADMISSION LADY TOLD ME I COULD DO THAT!) I also told her when I got my degree I wanted to go to Law School. She also said the school was accredited! Umm not really!!! LET ME EXPLAIN...
One day I go log on to the school site and they changed my password. When I called the school they told me they had dropped me from the classes because I did not fill out financial aid paperwork. I had just filled out paperwork over 10 months ago so I did not understand what was going on. I spoke to Lenetta Summers who is a dunce and had no clue what was going on. She said I could not go back to school until I paid a tuition balance of $5,500!!! I told her to please let me go back to school I wanted to finish and I could do a payment plan. Lenetta said send me a downpayment of atleast 100$ and we will do that. I sent them $100.00 and when I called them to get on the payment plan they refused. They told me I had to do another loan to cover the classes and possibly the tuition loan and I had to fill out my financial aid paperwork. I had collection agencies calling me to collect on the tuition. I went online and did research on them. EVEREST IS ONLY nationally certified, *NATIONAL CERTIFICATION IS A NO NO. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR TRAP! *
I called the school and told about how upset I was that they had misled me a man there said they had a different type of accrededation (Whatever that means!) I spoke to a lady in admissions and I asked her What kind of college collects on tuition money? She said People who do not pay their loans. I told her You said it loans! But not TUITION! She felt really stupid and stayed quiet and did not know what to say to me. I also found out that I could not transfer to a Law School whatsoever. The admissions rep at Everest also admitted that they were only nationally certified and that ONLY ONE LAW SCHOOL WOULD ACCEPT TRANSCRIPTS FROM EVEREST!!! Which is strayer university, which is an online law school!!! If I was to get a degree at Everest on Criminal Justice I cannot even take the test to try to get into a Law School because they will not accept Everest transcripts or credits. I wrote the attorney General Bill Mccollum about my situation he rresponded and told me to continue working with the Department of Education. I am working with Samuel Ferguson and he is investigating the matter with the school. I also got a discharge form from my financial aid and they are going to see if they can discharge the student loan from Everest so I won't have to pay them. I owe financial aid $7,200 and for what??? And on top of that I owe them a tuition of $5,500$ for only 11 months? That is almost the cost of University of Miami, I might as well have gone there. To those thinking of going to everest please* do not make the same mistake i made! I do not even know you and i would feel really bad if you took out loans... It is unfair how it is legal for them to take my money but my degree would have not been worth jack and i could not transfer to a law school or a decent college*. Wyotech, Everest, Florida Metropilitan whatever they are all the same thing! They are all under a company based out of California called Corinthian Colleges. A lot of people underestimate community colleges but your local community college is the best choice they are very cheap, LEGAL! Accredited! And your financial aid may make it possible for you to go to school for free.
Now that I think of it did Everest ever have the intention of letting me get my degree? Think about it. They make me take out a loan, they suck up my financial aid... Kick me out after 10 months because I did not fill out my financial aid on time. Then they want me to do another loan and on top of that pay of the tuition of $5,500?? I think their whole intention was to take my money and run with it and make me pay more money after. I felt like I had to pay it because I had accumulated all these classes and that is their trap right there. They felt like I was going to pay it because of the classes I had accumulated with them. They prey on people who are trying to better themselves and take advantage of them. These people are all scum I could not run a business like this or even work there. I have a heart and a conscience! Now I am hoping my loan with financial aid gets discharged!!!
