In January, I ordered Christy Lane CDs via telephone. Upon concluding my order, I was told that I had been signed up for a trial period with MWI Connections. When I refused, the operator told me my order would be canceled and I had no choice but to sign up for the trial period if I wanted the CDs. Because this was a birthday present for my father, I agreed figuring I could easily call and cancel before the trial period ended—WRONG!
Before the 30 days ended, I called MWI Connections. I spent 20 minutes trying to get the young man I spoke to understand that I did not want to repeatedly hear why I should keep their service. Several times I had to raise my voice and speak to him like he was a child. Finally, I told him that I did not care what he was "obligated" to tell me, but to cancel the damn membership and "DO NOT BILL MY CREDIT CARD".
Guess what... The following Monday, there was a charge for $96.00 on my VISA. I instantly called the company back and went through the same song and dance yet again. This time, I was promised the amount would be removed but I was also informed that my account was still very much active. I was furious. I demanded to speak to a supervisor, but I was denied that option.instead, "Michael" cut me off and hung up on me.
Immediately, I called my credit card company and reported the problem. They have temporarily credited my card back the $96.00 pending an investigation. MWI Connections has still not resolved the issue.
I plan to take further action in the weeks to come. Part of which is signing up for the Class Action Suit that is taking place in CA. I also plan to report the company to the Better Business Bureau as well as the company who sold me the CDs. Someone needs to take a stand, and it is time the victims (all of us filing these reports) stand up for our rights to not be screwed over by these blood sucking, money hungry pigs taking advantage of the innocent consumer!!!
