I attended the Art Institutes International in January until July. During that time I accumulated $20,000.00 worth of debt because 3 quarters at this ridiculous school costs that much. About what I learned during that time is how to read a color wheel and paint with acrylic paint, use Microsoft Excel, and how to multiply. I paid $20,000 dollars for them to teach me that! AND my credits are non-transferable because the Art Institutes runs in quarters and not semesters. Each credit is also worth 4 credits instead of 3 like a regular college.
I had a teacher named John Thomas for my Color and Design class. The class where we got to look at a color wheel and the paint with acrylic paints. During this class I never got shown how to paint or even an example of how to paint. I never got shown how to mix colors, what kind of paints work best, or what kind of brushes to use. You would think that you would learn that kind of stuff in a painting class. The only thing I learned about in this class is about John Thomas and all his "accomplishments" in his life. He would give us our projects and then work on his own art work for his side jobs during class. He would not help anyone, he didn't even care.
The teachers at the Art Institutes International do not even have teaching degrees. They are not certified teachers. Not even have of them even have a masters degree. The people that they hire as employees are low-lifes that only care about themselves.
I paid $20,000 dollars, plus the money that I had to pay for parking just to go to school, for nothing! Anyone thinking about going to this school I URGE you not to go. Please!
My sister graduated from this school in March with a BA in Graphic Design and she has $80,000.00 worth of debt. She got layed off from her job where she only made $30,000.00 a year and she could not find a job for 8 months. Now she has a job at a design firm where she only makes $15.00 and hour and only works 27 hours a week. She had to get a 2nd job a Kohl's just to make enough to pay her bills. I make more than she does working at a factory.
Her boyfriend Brian also graduated from the Art Institutes International, MN as an Animation major. He currently works at a job where he makes $50,000.00 a year. He is computer programs for them, the thing is though he learned how to write computer programs and the computer language as he was growing up and not while attending the Art Institutes. He uses the skills he already knew before he got his BA.
The art institutes international mn is a ripoff!!!
