Lies to their customers I will NEVER shop there again! Rip-off

I used to think that Best Buy was a great place to shop— with salespeople I could trust, but that all changed a few months ago.

I was shopping around for a cable modem and of course I called Best Buy first to get a quote. The salesperson on the phone told me that I should get a Motorola Cable modem because they were about $100.00 dollars BUT I would get a $80.00 rebate. I thought that was a great deal and went down to buy the modem the next day.

When I went down there I confirmed with a salesperson that the rebate offer was still good. When I checked out the cashier gave me the rebate form and I mailed it off with all they paperwork that I had to include (Copy of UPC, copy of sales receipt etc...)

A month later I got a letter back telling me that they couldn't process the rebate becuase I was missing paperwork— but they didn't tell me what I was missing. I double checked everything and sent the rebate off again, sure that everything was there.

Another month went by and to my surprise, I got everything sent back to me again with the same letter saying I was missing something. This time I decided to call the Best Buy 1-800 number. The woman I spoke with on the phone said I was missing a copy off the "Order Confirmation from the Broadband Kiosk." I had no idea what she was saying.

She then explained that in order to get the rebate I had to sign up for Cox at Best Buy.

I explained to the lady that the salesman I originally spoke with on the phone or the salesperson at store didn't tell me anything about signing up for service AT Best Buy, nor was there any information on the rebate or where the modems were being sold explaining I had to sign up for Cox internet at Best Buy.

The only thing that the woman could say was "sorry for the mis-communication." Then she suggested that I speak with a manager at the Best Buy from which I bought the modem. I called and spoke with 2 managers. All they could tell me was the same thing, "sorry for the miscommunication" The first manager I spoke with asked me if I had the name of who I spoke with. I told her that I don't keep track of those things. NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO.

Best Buy refused to do anything for me or try to fix the problem in any way. I know that I will NEVER EVER be ripped off by Best Buy again becuase I will never step foot in that store again.

This isn't the first time I've had trouble with Best Buy... My father has gotten FALSE information from Best Buy "SALESPEOPLE" twice before. Best Buy rebates are just a bunch of B*S* (Excuse my language, please) All those rebates are, are bait and switch. The stupid manager at Best Buy told me, " I can't really do anything about the problem unless you have the name of the salesperson you spoke with." Isn't that the stupidest remark you've ever heard?

When I go into a store I expect to be helped by informed employees. It's not my job as a consumer to walk around with a notebook documenting who I speak with, what they say and then ask to speak to their manager to confirm what they're telling me is correct.

Here's my suggestion...
DON'T SHOP AT THE BEST BUY ON BROADWAY IN TUCSON, ARIZONA! They lie, they don't care about thier customers and the sales people will try to pressure you into buying service plans that you don't need—that's a whole other rip off report.

But, if you dare to venture into the store just remember to bring a pencil, paper, notebook maybe even a tape recorder so you can document exactly how you're being ripped off. Then maybe, just maybe, if you want to complain to a manager about something you can have all the information you need. But then again, the stupid manager would just make up another excuse as to how she can't help you.
