Collins College - CEC
Taking a tutition issue highe

Okay well I would like to say DO NOT go to this school. I started out with high hopes for this school and needless to say they were shot down, hard. I looked at going to this school to get my BA in Animation as I was having a hard time learnig this stuff on my own. During the enrollment process I was told that their Animation program was being redeveloped and that I would need to enroll in the AA for Media Arts. I though well ok a little degree in film/video would help in this field as that was where I was wanting to take my animating career. WOW Big mistake.

About the middle of the 3rd term or 30 weeks I found out that the animation program was not being re developed, in was removed. Well hell I should have stayed at home and done this online at Westwood College out of Denver, but I wanted hands on training with the instructors. I decided to rethink on what I was doing and decided since I have already completed half the program I may as well stay and leave with a degree.

Now coming into the last term tha school has pulled the last straw. I transferred in credits from community college and they were apllied to my transcript at Collins. Great, then I went to find out how much money it would save me and they blantely told me NONE. WHAT, you have got to be kidding me as I have already paid for these credits, and you want me to pay for them again??? No way Jose, not gonna happen. So after doing some digging I found the Arizona State Board of Education for Private Post Secondary Institutions which is who issued the liscence for the school. I have been visiting with them about this whole matter and come to find out that according to there records from the school they still offer the program. Okay so lets see I could not take the program last year, and the school still tells me to this day that the do not have and are not going to have an Animation program but the State Board says they do, ugh oh sounds like someone has not been keeping up with the state.

So, anyways I have filed an Official Complaint to the State Board and I have request a Full Refund plus Moving Expenses. I was told today that I have grounds to stand on and the documentation to prove it. I reccomend that Everyone who is or has gone to this College look into filling a claim. Your Conditions may vary but on the boards website (listed below) they have a llist there on what the school is supposed to follow. If you have the proof they will fight for you.

I do feel kinda bad for some of the instructors that I have gotten to know because they are good honest people, they just work for a croked company and in the current job market its hard to just go work for someone else.

Here is there website.

I will update as to how the claim goes. I was told today that he was going to call the school and try to see if they would like to settle the issue and refund me my money and he told me that if they declined that he would approach the board and follow protocol.
