Strikes again! Consumer fraud ripoff

On October 1, I paid my company's NEXTEL bill via phone check. Nextel over the next 5 days drafted my company's bill paying account 6 times over-drawing the account causing me my first "bounced" checks in 12 years of doing business with my bank and an inordinate amount of headaches that are still not corrected as of 11/9/02.

I was informed by a NEXTEL supervisor that it was a widespread problem and that I would be compensated for my time, those vendor checks that bounced along with letters that I could give to the vendors who were negatively affected and my bank so that my good name could be restored. NEXTEL after weeks of effort on my part did refund the over-drafts, but have not refunded the fees that banks charged my vendors for the returned checks, nor have they compensated me for my time or provided the letters to my bank or vendors that would restore my company's good name.

I do not know how many company's or consumers were affected nationwide, but NEXTEL did acknowledge that it was thousands!

I find it morally reprehensible that NEXTEL has not taken a very proactive position in insuring that I & my company were totally satisfied and that all that could be done for my company's recovery of this debacle was in fact completed.

Yesterday, with more than 30 days passing and no letters from NEXTEL for my bank or vendors, no compensation for my time and effort and no check from them for the fees my vendors paid for the return checks, I filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney General's office, as I believe their actions as it relates to my company are criminal in nature and goes far beyond a customer service issue.

I look forward to number portability in cellular becoming a reality in late 2003! The day it happens my company will no longer be a NEXTEL customer. NEXTEL's billion dollars invested in delaying the number portability issue has forced millions of customers to stay with NEXTEL (or lose their phone numbers) and put up with their horrible billing procedures and customer service. I suspect when number portability is a reality late 03
the THUD at the Nextel corporate offices in Reston, Virginia, will be more like an Atomic Bomb Blast.

If you hold NEXTEL stock you may want to unhload it prior to the number portability roll out.
