I encountered Justice Services when my hateful ex-husband called the police and told them that i had hit our son. My ex was at his parents home and just wanted to do something to hurt "me", again.
The police showed up, asked if I hit my child. I replied no of course not, where did you get that idea? The officer replied your husband called to file a report.By then my ex was standing in the parking lot of our apartment complex, staring at me smugly. My son (7 1/2) at the time kept asking me what was going on. I said I don't know yet.
They sat me down like a prisoner in my own home, 5 surrounding me by this time, then they escourted my son out the door. I said where are you taking him, they said somewhere safe!!! I could not believe my ears. We had just been sitting and watching television having a nice relaxing Sunday evening when our lives blew up.
The cuffed me, walked me outside, where I saw my son sitting in a police car with his dad close at hand. Before I was stuffed into the back of the police car my son came running to me saying mommy, mommy what's going on, I love you where are they taking you. We were both crying and I couldn't hug him because of the cuffs, but I assurred him I would be okay and he would be too. I said just go with your daddy and I will talk to you tomorrow.
I spent the next seven hours in two jails. Scottsdale holding and then down at 75th street where in the morning I was put in front of a judge. He said do you know why you are here, I said no sir I do not. He proceeded to read me a statement which was totally false. Told me when I would need to come back to court and after another hour of undeniable torchure, I was released.
Feeling like I had just lived through a nightmare. I called a cab and then my ex. I said when are you going to bring my son home? He said I'm not. I am sick and tired of paying child support, you are ruining my life; so I am going to get full custody of him now. I said how do you intend to do that on the basis of a lie?
Long story short. A few weeks later the judge sent me to justice services. Where I soon found out the lack thereof. It's a money making machine and that's it is a nut shell. I filled out several documents, all talking about abuse all of which I answered no to. I was being charged with domestic violence!
I then talked to a so called councelor, when after speaking to me she said she didn't think I needed to be here. I said I agree with you. But, she said, I need to give you the minimum of 26 weeks! I was appauled. For something I didn't even do! 26 weeks at $20 a pop. On top of that paying an attorney to get my son back.
I met many nice women, many in the same situation I was; put there falsely. It took me 4 and one half months to get my child back. That was my ex's third attempt and it failed while my son and I suffered the consequences of it.
The judge in the custody case said she never wanted to see him (my ex) in her court room again. I had won! But I learned that there is no such thing as justice in our court rooms It's the legal system not the justice system. You are GUILTY until proven innocent and even when your innocent your treated like a sub-human.
