I was screwed by Direct Tv! I was told that I didnt have a contract when actually they signed me up without my knowledge for 2yrs! Now they want $300 to get out. Dallas Nationwide

I answered one of those rip off ads from the mailers which lure you in with free installation and No contract and free equipment and free gifts and rebates. All Lies! However when I called the 800 number to get set up I asked "does this involve a contract" the lady says "Oh no!" So I foolishly set up an install date.

The installer show's Late then he is totally incompetent and his one goal is to leave. He after about 2hours he decides he's just going to throw it in there. He does such a bad job that it takes 2 different trips of technicans to figure it out. All while im on the clock of course. Well they eventually have to mail the right equipment which never really works and I tell them that I ordered 2 dvrs and only 1 works so why do I have to pay for two and they really tell me nothing.

So next I had to call customer service to correct the bill because the packages were wrong then the bill was wrong and each of these calls took at least 20 mins to get through to an agent and each agent instead of annotating these issues on the account I had to go back through all the problems with each one it was really horrible. So finally they get the bill right then just recently.

Let me remind you I havent even had this account for 6 months and the remote goes out just the other day and its not even a remote I use every day. I make the customary 20 min call to customer service and 20 mins later after a futile attempt at reprograming the remote is made they tell me I have to buy a new one $15.00 (their equipment). That was really the last straw for me and I thinking that I didnt have a contract attempted to cancel the account and was then told that I have a 2 year contract and that will be $300.00.

Pissed as hell I called customer service 40 mins later they tell me they that initially im not on a contract but after you have had the account for 30 days then it atomatically turns into a 2yr agreement. I never signed anything like that. I was actually told the opposite by the lying lady who set me up and by the initial incompetent installer. I was also told that customer service and the managers there in do not have the power to ever cancel an account and that accounts are never cancelled except by death or the inability to get service. So yeah I am being screwed by Direct TV and all their lies.
