I went on freeads.co.uk to search for a puppy and found someone with a dog to give away who only asked that transport costs be covered. I sent an email and "she" wrote me back the next day. I should have known it was fake right away as there were no questions as to the type of home I had or my ability to care for a puppy. There were also misspelled words and incorrect grammar that showed me this was not an English person (as in the use of "s" on the end of information.) It was also not the kind of person who would be a dog breeder or owner. However I really wanted the puppy and it all seemed so easy—I was emailed three gorgeous puppy pics and they told me I would have the dog delivered the next day. I gave them my office details and then received an email from the "transport company" telling me that the dog was ready to be delivered but as their accounts were being audited I would have to send a money order to Cameroon. I called the number and someone who could barely speak English and did not do his part for running the scam answered the phone—lucky for me. I then googled pet transport and came across this site and saw how many people had been duped by these thieves. I had the puppy "owner" telling me to hurry and pay as the dog had already been ripped off, then I sent an irate email telling them I was notifying the police and have heard nothing since. The email from the tranport company is copied below—fairly obvious it's a scam but it's vile that they are using puppies as bait. How desperate!
Don't let them catch you unawares... My favorite part is them telling you to pay by WalMart moneygram—we don't even have bloody WalMart in the UK (thankfully).
