Don't be fooled. Very sketchy! Unreputable claims

I received a letter from CBCS stating I had a past due account from Resurgent Capital Services for a Sprint bill for 127.17. CBCS was offering a settlement for $63.59. I was very confused since my last account from Sprint was 7 years ago and my balance was paid when I closed the account.

I decided to call up CBCS, the 1-888-413-0093 # they have listed on the letter for further questions and spoke to a Lady who kept repeatedly trying to get my home phone # and work phone #. When I told her first I wanted to know how long ago this account was she told me it was 11 years old. I then asked what is the address the account was placed at. She told me and old address I lived at about 9 years ago. It then clicked that she was reading the address from my credit report, I became very suspicious of the call and told the girl I would send a check when she was pressing me to give my credit card payment over the phone. No way would I fall for that.

I then contacted Sprint and they told me that my last account was 7 years ago and that it was in fact paid to date. And they could not find any record of debt.

I called back CBCS and first someone just said hello, I thought I dialed wrong so I hung up. But, then I checked the # and realized it was right. I called back, and got someone different. I explained to the lady that Sprint had no histor of my debt, and she said of course not because it was sold to a creditor a long time ago. Whatever. I told her I needed records of my bill and she said I would have to write a request to Mrs. Blue! (Is this the wife of Mr. Blue from the movie Resevoir Dogs!). She said they will send me any information that I request in writing.

I am going to take action to further report these people if they continue to contact me.

I have noticed from other entries such as mine that CBCS is using mainly cell phone
companies as there scam to try to trick people into paying them money.
These people need to be stopped. It is rediculous reading how many people have been in my same situation. Don't fall for the scam.
