Unbelievable Incompetence

I do not know where to really begin, so I will make this as a memo. First, I had almost 2 semesters worth of PLAC credits, which I could have used to fulfill some of my courses I paid 1500 dollar a pop for, and my academic advisor (the 4th one of my tenor here) did not tell me that I could use these credits so I took 2 classes, that I did not need. Of course, the school proclaims after me fighting with them that it couldnt have worked that way, but either way, the whole incident turned me off.

Then they awarded me 28 credits from Prior Learning experience from management positions I held. That put me 3/4 away from my degree. I changed my major to finish faster, and was very excited that they awarded me the credits. 4 months later, in my new degree program, I get home from Florida (actually a year ago this week), and see that my completed credits went from 78 down to 49. That was it, no notice, nothing.

I get a letter a week later, stating that they had "Made a mistake, and awarded me credits that I did not deserve, even though I had called on 4 different occasions to speak to my "Academic" idiot in my eyes to question why they gave me the 28 credits instead of the 6 or 12 I was expecting, and the conclusion that was came to, from him, his supervisors, etc... Was that because it was an avionics class it was in a different category. Oh well, that was a mistake and they took the credits back, yup, almost 2 semesters.

THis, then messed up my financial aid, and you would think that because UOP made a mistake they would let me continue taking classes until the Financial aid worked out, but no, they dropped me from the classes and I spent 6 weeks out of class until I paid my class out of pocket.

It gets better, then over the summer, I needed 1 credit to fill my GE credits requirement. I took a one credit class that my ACADEMIC ADVISOR, this time a different one, told me to take to satisfy the class. Out of pocket of course. I take the class, and am waiting for the credit to apply to my degree program. It never does, but shows up on my transcript. I call, and bottom line is that my academic advisor made a mistake, and made me take the wrong class. I say ok, well you made a mistake, please fix it.

The short of the long story is that after going back and forth with her and her manager, she tells me they cant fix the credit and apply it to my program, but they will credit me the money to take another class. WHAT THE F??? Yes, that was my thought as well, so I start bitching and complaining to anyone who would listen, they appeal it, and I get a letter denying my appeal. Basically I am stuck. (not to mention my academic advisor complained to me that she was going to get a misadvisement for it).. Like I cared at that point, she shouldnt have the job she has in my opinion. Now back to the letter:

In this letter, I find a name, an din the letter I see that nowhere is it mentioned that there was any discussion about the school being at fault in any way. I called the woman, left a message, and asked her a simple question, which was "are you aware that the reason that this appeal crossed your desk in the first place was that one of your academic advisors told me to take the class, and I listened, and am being penalized for it". She called me back, acknowledged that this was the first time she had heard that and told me I would have a response from her within one business day.

I proceeded to email the 2 people I had been dealing with the entire time, and asked them a direct question which is as follows: I said "Marcie, you did tell the appeal board that the reason the appeal is there in the first place is because of your mistake, right?" She wrote me back, and I have it documented along with all the emails, not verbatim but she said of course, they are aware of it. I had a phone call from the appeal lady and they gave me the credit right away. What a hoax hugh?

Now, I want to finish my degree faster, so I am dealing with more incompetence... I am just tired of typing... But basically I just applied for a student loan, and was given the wrong information on 4 different occasions, to a point where I told my Financial advisor with UOP that he had better think before he speaks and to watch what he says, because if he doesn tknow and starts telling people things they react to his advice and make mistakes, liek I did just the other day by applying for loans, which hurts your credit, based on his advice, that the Dept. Of Ed would never have approved anyway...

I missed some other stuff here, oh that now I took the loans out to double a class, and now I got the loan and they now tell me I cant use the money to double class, I have to pay it on my own, so what the F#$% was the point of the loan in the first place, oh yeah, I want to pay 13 percent interest on money I cannot even use... THey should be penalized... They suck in my opinion.

I know that there is not much of a lawsuit here, but I figured if I could help someone else stay away from this disaster of a For-Profit university, which is the problem in iteslf it would make me happy.

Regards,
Disgusted
