I seen a ad in the paper entitled, "$12 to $20 a hour, full benefits, rapid advancements, no experience ness. Will train call 778-0353 only on mondays". I called and the man that answered scheduled me a appointment for a interview. I went in on tuesday at 1pm, and found that another girl would be interviewing along with me. He addressed us in front of each other and took notes upon our answers etc. He told us to call back between 3pm and 4pm to find out if we were hired. I called and of course I got it. "classes" resumed the next day at 10am.
I went in the first day and it seemed normal, and I saw that my friend from the previous day was in attendance also. I asked how many people applied for the jobs, he said 400. We went on to studying "the defender" and "the majestic"."air purifiers" aka vaccum cleaners etc. We didnt notice at the time but we were being taught selling tactics, the floating marble, the texas bullet were all things that would grab the customer's attention and want to buy it. I thought it was more than odd that the "job" was so wonderful but yet 4 people at that point had walked out for no reason. There were only 12 in the beginning. I got a strange feeling by mid day on the second day so I came home and researched it.
I came across Jerome's story and decided to print it out for my classmates to read. I wanted to save them from the monsters we've been listening to for the past 2 days. They read the story and went to class anyway, so I went in to confront Mr. Hall (our trainner). I went in and sat down trying to think of ways to confront him without being rude or disrespectful, when all of a sudden he accuses me of trying to discourage my classmates from reaching their 20 display goals. After he said what he said my classmates ganged up on me and attacked me and the story I showed them. Accusing me of typing it myself, and saying that they were grown people, they can care for themselves. He showed them a "contract" which he said was law binding, and said the owner mr. Jacobs would be in later to witness the signings and dicuss the issues. I read that contract and it didnt look the way it was supposed to! He promised we werent sales people, and that we were getting paid by the hour, not commission! Anyways stay away from these people! They will hurt you and your family and friends!!
