Exact same experience. The individual that came to my door seemed professional and honest. "Claimed" that this company could ALWAYS offer a lower price than DTE currently was offering. All but promised that it was not a scam and that this company bought large quantities of gas so that they could offer it cheaper if/when the price were to go up. I told him I would like to see the brochure and talk to someone primarily to see if this was a real reputable company. As predicted, my phone rang and an operator assured me that this was a legitimate company that was trying to help consumers with the burden of expensive gas rates.
They never disclosed that every bill has a $40 "supplier" fee and that my montly bill would more than quadruple in price per unit! My first bill was almost $200 but of course by then the 30 day trial was up and to cancel I must send a check for $250 and until then, the account will continue. My second bill has nearly reached $300 WITH another $40 suppliers fee.
This cancellation fee was NOT on the contract but hidden in a pamphlet that he barely covered... For obvious reasons of course.
How do these people sleep at night?
