Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency
PHEAA has added unnessary charges to my student loan Harrisburg

After I graduated from high school, I had worked as a PBX operator until I had my first baby in 1970. I was a stay-at-home mom until the late 80s. The only jobs that I could find paid minimum wage. Switchboard jobs required typing speed and experience, which I didnt have. The only way I could get out of a bad marriage and support three kids was to continue my education and find a good paying job with benefits. I attended business school full-time and worked part-time to provide food for my kids and public transportation to and from school.

Upon my graduation from business school in 1991, I was hired as a temporary employee at the University of Pittsbugh. Fifteen months later, I was hired permanently in the Emergency Medicine Faculty office at the Unversity of Pittsburgh. When I started paying my student loan, the balance was $5,548.02. The female supervisor (Barbara Buzzard) in Emergency Medicine fondled me. I went into shock and had to resign. The temp pool at the University of Pittsburgh rehired me right away and I temped for eighteen months before being hired permanently in the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business in October of 1994. I worked at the Katz Graduate School of Business until I resigned in April of 1996. During the time that I worked for Diana DellaVecchia in the Katz Graduate School of Business, I was not permitted to go to the bathroom or to lunch during the 7.5 hour workday. It was extremely disgusting when I was menustrating.

I continued to make monthly payments on my student loan, until I resigned from the Katz Graduate School of Business because of stomaches, headaches, and nosebleeds everyday. At that time, my student loan balance was $4,596.86. I reported the emotional and mental abuse that I had tolerated but nothing was done about it. According to the federal government, I was an at-will employee and my bosses can do anything they want to me. The Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division told me as long as I was making more than minimum wage, employers are not required to let me go to the bathroom.

Since 1996, PHEAA has continued to add interest to my loan. Because the federal government allowed Barbara Buzzard, Diana DellaVecchia and the University of Pittsburgh get away with abusing me, they should pay all the charges that PHEAA has added since 1996. When I signed to repay the loan, I agreed to pay for what I borrowed. I didnt ask to be fondled; I literally begged to go to the bathroom.
