I received a letter from Mr. Miguel Antonio on July 25 informing me that I was a winner of La Primitiva Lottery International Promotions Programme held on June 22 in the amount of 615,810.00. I was to contact Mr. David Lopez, Foreign operation Manager GROUPAMA SEGUROS S.A. On Tel: 0034 696 627 317 and Fax: 0034 911 817 406 who was to be the sole agent for the processing and remittance of my funds.
I was also informed that 10% of my winnings belonged to GROUPAMA SEGUROS S.A. As they had purchased the ticket in my name.
I was required to fax proof of identification and my bank details in order for the funds to be transferred to my account and was advised that I had until August 10th to claim or the prize money would be returned to the MINISTERIO DE ECONOMIA Y HACIENDA as unclaimed.
Stupidly, I forwarded proof of identification but witheld my banking details. It was only after I had done this that I looked on the Internet to see what information I could find about this company and thankfully found consumer complaints which confirmed that it was yet another lottery scam!
It is disgraceful that those individuals who do not have access to the Internet and are hard pressed for cash shoul be subject to having their hopes raised and their meagre funds depleted by such unscrupulous criminals.
