On 5/4 I signed up for Plaxo's Premium Services. I used these services to update my Outlook Address book to eliminate the duplicates. At the time, I was very pleased with the outcome.
On 5/4 My credit card was charged $49.95 to renew my subscription without my authorization. The was no notification email. All the information is conveniently hidden under your premium services summary.
When I approached Plaxo about the unauthorized charges, they stated "after the end of your your annual membership, the subcription was renewed for this Plaxo feature. Since the auto-renewal option was not cancelled in your Account settings page within one year, you would have been charged an annual fee of $49.95 for the Plaxo Premium Suite." How convenient for them.
I am sick and tired for companies who think they have cart blanche to use your credit card information as they see fit for them. Wouldn't it be nice if a company would take a moment to notify or remind it's valued customers before they charge your credit card?
My next step is to contact my credit card company to dispute this unauthorized charge for a service that I will never use again.
My occupation is a Career Consultant for the global leader for providing Outplacement services.in the past I have refered Plaxo to my personal clients and corporate clients. You can count on the fact that in the future, I will make sure they stay as far away from this company as possible.
