In the Spring of I took ONE course at Kaplan University. My company has a tuition policy which covers all tuition, fees and books for any approved courses. I got the course approved, submitted all the forms and took the class. After taking it, I decided that the MBA program wasn't for me and never took another course. It took a few tries to get Kaplan to stop billing me and send the bills to my company to pay, but after finally getting our company HR department and Kaplan to connect, I was under the impression that the situation was resolved.
Tonight-May 24, nearly ONE year after the course was taken I get a phone call from an individual from Pinnacle Collections rudely informing me that I had defaulted on a $258 bill for Kaplan. After nearly a year with NO communication from Kaplan suddenly I'm in collection? And, to top it all, the charming representative from Pinnacle was offensive in his language and his attitude about where I lived and about me personally.
I was able to contact Kaplan and the rep I spoke to said that it appeared that I was double billed and only partially credited. I still have further research to do with Kaplan, but now I've got this nutball calling me up and being offensive.
STAY AWAY from Kaplan University. Their billing department is incompetant and disorganized and when they make a mistake-your credit rating and your personal life will be attacked by their hired guns.
