Refused to honor rebate receipt printed by the vendor for rebate submission

On Sept 22, I purchased a Ximeta disk enclosure from Fry's Electronics. The enclosure was promoted with a $40 rebate to be paid by Express Group within 10-12 weeks. On November 1, I checked the web site and discovered that my submission had been rejected because the product was not purchased within the promotion dates.

I immediately called to ask a) why I had not been informed of the rejection and b) how I a receipt that only prints during the valid promotion period could not be eligible.

The rep I talked to had no answer for either question. I was told that the rejection "probably went by e-mail and was considered spam". I submit about 30 rebates a year and have never had any other e-mail rejected.

The rep also said she couldn't see the actual document and that I would have to resubmit by mail (no fax) all the same documentation.

I resent copies of the receipt that accompanied the submission a special "Rebate Receipt" that can only be obtained during the actual promotion period and suddenly it was valid. I was told though, that I must wait 12 more weeks to actually get paid.

Other rebate houses have fax numbers to resubmit and automatically expedite payment when it is clear that the buyer was not at fault. These people are incompetent and the buyer is paying for that incompetence.
