My husband received a letter from NCO financial systems billing us for $330 to "EMP Craven County, PLLC." For a date of service in 2002! I called NCO to explain that all 2002 bills have been paid, and asked who should I call to resolve this debt, as I have NEVER received a bill for this amount, and do NOT owe this money. I was hung up on THREE TIMES, and still do not know who we supposedly owe this bill to.
The first woman (Vicky) said I owe the money, pay it. I said we do not owe it, who do we call to resolve it? She hung up on me. The second woman refused to give me her name (finally said Michelle). She asked if I was Joe's spouse. I told her yes (in NC, collectors may speak with a spouse). She gave me a date of service of 03/25.
This was a valid date of service, as this was the day my son was sent to the ER, however my husband and I have paid all bills from this date of service, and in four years have not received any bills from ANYONE about it. I tried to ask her who to call to resolve this, she hung up on me.
The third person I spoke with (David) asked me if we didn't owe the bill, where was my husband and why wouldn't he talk? I put my husband on the phone, and he advised them that yes, they may speak with me. David told my husband "we can not speak with her, as she was not even with you on the day you incurred the debt." Which is funny, because the ER visit that day was for MY nephew, who we had adopted. He said "she was there, talk to my wife." After a full minute of stuttering, he finally gave me the name Dr. Russ. I told him there is NOT a Dr. Russ in Craven County, what agency is Dr. Russ affiliated with? Then HE hung up on me.
In an effort to clear this up, I emailed MEDCLR and requested information on what was owed, and who to call to dispute it. I told them that I had called NCO and could not get information. My response? For questions regarding your account, contact NCO at. I emailed again stating that according to the address, NCO and MEDCLR are at the same address, and I am officially requesting in writing the name and address of the original creditor so that I can clear this up. I have received no response to date, and am not sure how to follow up. I believe I am being scammed, so I carbon copied the correspondence to my birth mother, who works for department of justice. Did the doj. Gov scare them off, or should I be still trying to call around? Although I have NO idea who to call!
This has not been reported to our credit yet. Can I dispute a threatned credit action before it happens?
