Today I received a call from a 'Miss Jensen' at Credit Solutions Corporation about a supposed debt to them in my husband's name. That's when the pleasantness stopped. When I explained that they would need to speak to my husband as I didn't recognize the debt and it was from before I MET my husband, he would need to speak with them. I also asked if this was their debt or had they purchased it from another company.
'Miss Jensen' snottily informed me that it was a debt from a Providian Credit Card and what payment plan would I like to make. I again explained that they would need to take this up with my husband as I had no clue about this supposed debt. I again stated I would speak with my husband about it. She told me to get a pen and paper, which I did, and rattled off a phone number, account reference number and got impatient when I asked her to repeat the information so I had it correct.
I thanked her for the information and she started in on me about 'why didn't I want to handle this? Most wives want to take care of this.' As she prattled on about how a good wife would want to 'fix' their husband's credit - I hung up.
Then I called the number back to verify it was a real number, got back to Miss Jensen and informed her that I didn't appreciate her attitude and tone, and to not call us again, my husband would call them if we needed information. She got even more snotty and told me, 'I'm a collector, I don't have to be nice.' I hung up again.
Anyone have any suggestions to handle this company? Is this debt still valid in 2008 (if it existed in 2001)?
