As I was looking over next month's credit card statement online, I noticed a charge to CIC*CE Credit Manager in the amount of $9.95. Since I was unfamiliar with the company, I ran a search. Obviously my heart sank when I found this website.
I called the bank that issued my credit card and told the representative what I had read about the company. I explained that I had received a free credit report, but that I had not given them my credit card number, nor authorized them to sign me up for any program. He gave me the phone number listed above, and I will call CIC*CE tomorrow. I will also file a dispute with the bank over the fraudulant charge. I just hope that the company will cancel this "imaginary" service that I never authorized.
This charge will appear on next month's statement, so I have caught the problem in a timely fashion. I noted the name of the bank representative, and recorded the time and date. I will file a paper copy of the dispute when I received the statement in the mail. Plus, I will note whatever CIC*CE states.
I definitely do not want to continue to have this amount charged to my card. Any other suggestions?
