EDP Reporting has done this to me twice! The first time they attenpted to draft $159.95 from my checking account. I did not have the funds available so the "pre authorized check" bounced. I was charged by my bank for NSF.
My bank advised me to call the 800 number on the check. They would have to be responsible for the charge for NSF. When I called the 800 number I was on hold for atleast an hour. There is a message directing you to their website for faster contact with them. When I went to the site there is a live chat option. However, no one is ever online. I sent an email with no response.
After trying to resolve it with EDP for one week I gave up. Two months later it happened again. An amount of $195.95 was drafted from my account for this company. Luckily my bank returned the funds immediately. They recommended I close my account. They could put a temporary hold on all activity until it is closed. The banks cannot take further action with these companies because they acquire your banking info somehow. Mostly from payday loan sites and credit card sites.
I intend to take my case to my local authorities & hopefully to my local media.
