My husband opened his small business at age 18 with the help of his mom who gave him $3000.00 and within reasonable time, he paid his mom back. To this day we still own the same business. It's been 16 long years, my husband is such and honest business man and most of all a man of his word. He came to me the other night with a business card wanting me to check international profit associates.
So, I was up all night checking all types of records not only to find out that they are for a fact a scam but they mostly prey on the little people. You see we are not a huge company we only have 11 employee. I don't work am a stay at home mom with 3 kids so he is our soul provider.
On the day that the representative came by all he demanded was copies of bank accounts, tax returns, and so on. Then he let us know that there was an intial fee of 1000.00 but that he would lower it to 750.00 my husband agreed and handed him a check, even though I have told my husband to talk to me before he makes any decision regarding the business. So, at 4:00am I wake up my husband with the proof of who they are and what they do, and telling him that I don't feel good that I have a pressure in my heart.
He is amazed at what I found out and couldn't believe that there are human beings out there that could really have the heart to do this. But, was really upsetting is that my husband signed the contract. He told me he signed it under pressure, due to the fact that our son that day was at the business and was hungry and he wanted his father to take him to eat. So, the representative demanded that he needed to sign some paper work to start getting the job done. Then the representative went on saying that he was amazed at how long we have survived in the business.
I know we all make mistakes in our business but, all we can do is learn from our mistakes... But, this is a pricey lesson. To end this on a better note, it's now 5:00am and my husband is getting ready to go to work his usual hours 6:00am to 9:00pm and he will be waiting outside his business with a police officer to make sure he not only kicks him out of his property but also to make him look like a fool.
To all you who have been scammed, I feel your pain because I have not slept well since this problem started. So to end this, the only thing we could do is to continue to try to be good human beings. No matter how many people want to take down the little people.
