My son has attended this school for the past 2 years, and he's received nothing but racially motivated attention from the school staff and resource officer (Hillsborough county sheriff's office) the entire time. The majorities of black students there have grown up together since grade school and obviously know each other very well so the school staff has labeled these boys as gang members called the P.G. Gang on the office bulletin.
The worst part is they have never contacted any parents to let them know that their children are in this supposed gang. And since I mentioned my concerns about this matter to the school its not only black kids targeted its anyone who associates with them.
Whether they're walking the hallway going to class, sitting at lunch, or even off campus at the park playing basketball. These boys P.G. Are a rap group they have been to my home plenty of times hanging out on my front porch playing music, rapping, and dancing.
I really don't care for this new school rap, but I figure they could be out doing a lot worst things than rapping. Or 13 boys coming together to sing and dance and praise the Lord on New Years Eve Watch night service. Yea, I know your thinking how dare some gang go to church! Well my son is with a gang, but it's a Christian gang call the M.O.D. Squad (men of destiny). Which my son bought in 13 youth that could have been out drinking and getting high to be in a Christian new years celebration.
Well back to this school where it is zoned a lot of the so called higher classed people live. You have these Fast and Furious / homeboy pants hanging off their asses poser wannabe rich kids trying to look tough living off of daddy's money that start most of the trouble at the school, but the school staff are to afraid of these kids because they know daddy's lawyer will be all over them. So they're left with the black and Latino kids to mess with.
They rarely mess with the Latino kids because that's where the real gangs are and they're scared of them. So that leaves the black kids who are barely organized as a rap group yet alone a street gang. But if you're black and reading this and have never lived in California or New York you've probably never seen a black street gang.
Well back to my story my son never had a fight in school until the 7th grade and this white kids kept on making racial slurs at my son which started to walk away as I told him people like that are just ignorant. Well my daughter who I guess missed that lesson from me jumped said don't talk to my brother that way he shoved her my son gave him a beating he will never forget. And that school looking back at his record sees he was a good student and only gave him 1 day internal suspension.
Well at Gaither my son gets arrested for an off campus altercation where four kids wanted to fight him just because of the girls he was walking with. One guy was 26 yrs old the other is 19yrs old my son 15yr old. My son wins the fight he goes to jail the other guys are victims imagine that.
Then the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office from a source at Gaither High School that the beating these guys took was from a gang initiation to so my son can get in the gang. I don't know but I personally would have found an easier target than for men in a car say whatever to get them out of the car and then fight them to get in a gang. Hey even TV gangs aren't that stupid. I know my story is all over the place but that's only because this schools story is the same way.
The teachers at conference time say my son's grade maybe low sometimes but he's a good kid never disrespectful but the five min.in between classes and after school my son is Gaiters most wanted for starting fights. Hell my son just got 10 days suspension for arguing and talking about setting up a off campus fight that he only witnessed with about 50 other kids, but asst. Principle seen tall black kid there in all those white faces and that was her man.
Well I'm done for now but you will be hearing from other parent about the racial issues at this school both black and Latino.
