I just received a mailing today from a company calling itself "Sweepstakes Clearinghouse." This company has gone out of it's way to deceptively advertise it's mailings as some sort of prize notification. Fortunately I wasn't born yesterday because you have won absolutely nothing. This is nothing more than a con game being perpetrated by a company offering you over-priced merchandise at a loss to the consumer. Read the fine print where you can. The laptop they offer is refurbished, uses Windows 98 as it's operating system and is at best worth $100.00 but they are charging $279.95 for it. And that is with a deduction of your supposed "winnings" in the amount of $400.00. There's no way in hell that this piece of equipment is worth even a fraction of that amount.
I don't care about the responses from the company that they've been in business for 20 years. I am not particularly impressed by a company getting away with deceptive practices and rip-offs for 20 years. If you get one throw it in the trash where it belongs. And I sincerely hope they aren't stupid enough to send me another because my next complaint will be to the State Attorney General's office. Their mailings are so unbelievably deceptive that they are surely running afoul of mail fraud laws.
