Fraudulent billing dishonesty mismanagement

How Charter Communications is Stealing my Honeymoon

My fiance, "Tom", had signed up for Charter's cable and internet service when he moved into his new apartment last year, confident that he'd only have positive experiences with the company. He lives in a small apartment building—only six apartments, two per floor.

Last October my fiance moved from the bottom floor, apt 6, to the top (apt 1) and called Charter to transfer the service to the top floor. While doing this, the CSR inadvertently canceled his account (mistakes will be made). After much confusion they told Tom the problem would be fixed, he would recieve a promotional deal, and the cable and internet would be transferred to the top apartment with no service fees.

Wrong. A service fee was charged. The biggest problem, however, was that when he recieved his next e-bill from them, the bill was twice as much as it was supposed to be. They were charging him for both apartments! He called them several times to explain this to them, and thought they eventually understood. He recieved an e-statement on the 6 of December stating he owed a balance of $0.00.

20 Days later, he owed a balance of approximately 312.00.in less than a month, service for one apartment was three hundred dollars? His cable was cut off a day or so after recieving the statment.

He called their billing department several times, and no CSR could understand why recieving $300 in bills for a month wasn't normal. They even said over the phone at one point that he was paying for both apartments, but quickly corrected themselves. They said they would turn the cable back on and call him with an updated figure.

They turned on the cable, and turned it off a few days later, leaving a notice for the bottom apartment, which had been vacant for months.

Tom then went down to their offices, returned their equipment, and told them he would pay what he fairly owed them. They told him specifically this: They would reconfigure the bill and give him a final statement. He would have an indefinite amount of time to pay this amount, with no hit on his credit.

Two days ago we recieved a notice saying the bill had to be paid in full immediately or Tom would be referred to a collection agency!

Now our tax returns, which were to go towards our honeymoon, have to go to Charter Communications to insure our credit is good enough to get a house when we're married.

I'm infuriated. I personally will seek to do everything in my power to bring this matter to justice. I will *not* let this monopoly win.
