I was charged 19.95 by Advantage America (not sure what they even do) for a service I didn't sign up for and am not positive what it was even for. This fee caused my rent check to bounce because I hadn't anticipated an additional 19.95 coming out of my account since I wasn't even aware of it.
As a result of my rent check bouncing, I've been charged an additional 250.00 as well as a bounced check fee from my financial institution, and now a negative hit on my rental history since the payment was late-for the first time. I thought this might have been fraudulent, but I tried calling the company first to try to get some sort of resolution and was hung up on the first time, called back and was told there were no supervisors available and was put on hold only to be told 15 minutes later that they had left for the day.
I don't think the people I spoke with were customer service representatives at all, from what I could tell they were operators taking orders or whatever it is they do, and there was no customer service representatives even on hand to handle complaints, concerns, etc.
