Upon trying to obtain a credit loan, I was notified that I had a bad debt on my credit report. I researched until I matched up the account number which led to fingerhut company.
It has been several years since I have obtained any thing from this company. When I did business with them, my credit was excellent and I owed them nothing at all. I have not owed them anything for probably 10 or 15 years.
I called the company and it was now called fingerhut marketing and they told me that this same thing had happened to many of the older fingerhut customers. They had pulled up accounts that were inactive and put some dollar amount on them and then sent them to the credit agency.
Frankly I believe this is a very lousy way to do business. When an account has been paid, it should remain paid until the consumer decides to open it themselves. What amazes me is that nothing seems to have been done about these cases at all. This phone number that I listed is for the new fingerhut business and I was told the old fingerhut had no phone number or physical address either.
