On Tuesday, October 11 I was approached in the parking lot of a local bank in San Bruno by a man who prsented himself as "L. Luigi". He stated he only spoke Italian, and since I spoke spanish we somehow made sense of each others dialogue.
The man stated that he worked for a company that sold Armani, Gucci, Boss, and Versace Jackets from Italy. He stated he was in town selling the jackets at a convention, but not all of them sold. He added that he needed to desperately sell the jackets or he would need to pay for a tax to bring them back to Italy.
Although I was skeptical, the jackets looked very authentic and had all appropriate tags, protective coverings, and the bags even had the jacket logo on them. He also had brochures which listed San Francisco as one of the cities his company was to visit, and even showed me where each jacket was on a catalogue he had with him. He also presented a passport which matched the name on the business card he had.
He stated he would give two jackets for free and charge me for one because he needed to get rid of them. He started off with a steep bid of $450.00. Once I told him I only had $100.00 with me he acted like the deal was off. He then offered them to me and acted upset and frustrated as if he was losing big on this deal.
Despite my instincts, I paid $100.00 for the jackets and figured I would take my chances. Once I arrived at home I discovered I was played a fool. These guys are GOOOODDDD! But they need to be stopped. Everybody please be aware and report this group to local police if they approach you.
