After their initial service call American HVAC told that if I hired them to do the air conditioning job, the price of the $89 service call would be included in the total price of the job. It would *not* be an additional charge over and above the price they would give me for the complete job. I was asked if the repairman who had quoted the job at $1,400 told me this, and I said no. I was also told that the repairman was not the person who usually quoted the jobs, and that his quote of $1,400 was the worst case scenario. Bob told me he would come here on Saturday with his installer, and give me the price. I had a friend present when Bob and his guy came out, and Bob gave me a price of $1,200 complete including tax. There was no misunderstanding.
American HVAV ended up charging my credit card for both the $89 service call, and the $1,200. They purposely low balled their quote to beat a competitor's price, and then reneged on the deal. Even Bob's installer Ron was under the impression that I was being charged only $1,200. When I asked him why I hadn't been given a new pad for the air conditioner (my unit now sits unevenly on a 15 year old eroded pad from the old larger unit, far enough away from the house to have necessitated the use of an electrical extension which would not have been necessary if the pad and unit had been placed closer to the house), Ron said for the low price I was being charged of only $1,200, he could not include the new pad which he had in his van.
The operation of this unit is sub par, and it is placed to far away from the house. American HVAC refused to address these problems. Their worker Ron also smoked in my yard, made fun of a customer's religion, and his van leaked oil all over my driveway. Totally unprofessional. I would avoid this company like the plague!
