USBI - Navicom - One-call-a-com - Opticum
Ripoff

USBI—Navicom - One-Call-a-Com, One Call Communications, Inc and and Opticom: Back in March 3 calls were reflected at the bottom of my Verizon bill for LD charges of $112.23 to "Guinea-Bisxx" and then $112.23 to "Diego Garcxx".

Like all of you, there was no way I'd be on line during the work week after midnight to some foreign countries in the Indian Ocean. Like a lot of you, I also hit a dead end in reaching a rep. Verizon removed the calls from their bill but warned USBI was separate.

I don't have LD with Verizon either but only on my cell so I'd never make LD with Verizon. I e-mailed USBI at www.billview.com/usbi then. Now, interestingly, I got a bill today in August! From "One Call Long Distance" in carmel, Indiana for $112.23 (only for the first 3 calls to Diego Garcxx but NOT for the 3 to Guinea so it appears USBI is the conduit for 2 different online billing entities, i.E., one is Navicom and the other is One-Call-A-com which means these need to be disputed separately).

I guess I'll be receiving yet another bill for the Guinea calls and betcha the payee on that bill is some affiliate of the other online billing party known as Navicom. Like many of you, I had to first determine who to contact for these 2 bills and the anonymous rep at USBI certainly wouldn't divulge any information. No one answered at either Navicom or One Call. This recent bill has no fax or website and guess what, the 800-949-2390 number rings endlessly!

Just for your info, back in March when I typed in the name Diego Garc at yahoo, I was taken to some porn site with photos of young women in cameo shots with country names under them. Do you know the person accessing this site only needs to type in the provided access code which takes them to a page where they can type in any phone number they like so that's how we became victims of ID theft via internet and phone!

What can we do?
1. I reported this to FTC at FTC. Gov and CUB.org (Citizens Utility Board,
2. I contacted tech support at AOL and subscribed to firewall protection AND
3. Called Verizon to confirm the block on international or ANY LD calls and finally,
4. I reported it to Fraud unit of police.

My next step is to write FTC again about this most recent bill. I guess One Call a Com was counting on my forgetting what transpired but I retained all dox and my notes in a notebook.

We do need to rally together and contact tv stations to prevent more victims. When I checked this website in March about USBI, there were over 460 such complaints! Have they explained themselves in a rebuttal? No! I hope some of these websites and info are of some help to you. Try typing in the yahoo search line the name of your caller and see if you too discover porn/ID theft. Best regards
