Fairfield Resorts
Ripoff Disrespectful, Fraudulent, Questionable, Thieves, and Unfair Treatment

I can not start this letter on a negative note, because I have been a member for three years now. My first two years were problem free. My troubles started last year when I purchased more points while on vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC.

My problem began with the downpayment of my transaction. My sales rep., Mr. Young, set up my downpayment on a credit card through MBNA. I have been making payments like I am suppose to to MBNA and my monthly payments are drafted for the points I bought.

I think it was two or three months after I started paying on the downpayment, I began receiving harassing phone calls from the Downpayment department. They claimed that I had not made any payments towards the downpayment. I told them that I was not behind and that I had made payments already.

Next I was transferred to the Downpayment Resolutions Department. They told me not to worry and that they would research to see where the money was going. This has been going on for over a year now. I get phone call after phone call. I have gone back to the originally site on my own and spoke with Mr. Young who along with others in the coorporate department promised to help. They gave me a card with four names on it (the four in the office when I went) and asked me to fax them a copy of my most recent MBNA statement so they could get the issue resolved. I did as they asked.

I have made phone calls to different departments trying to resolve this problem. I have called the credit card company who assures me that the money went to Fairfield. Fairfield tells me the money came to them and for some reason was charged back to the credit card.

This past week while in Florida at Bonnet Creek while at one of those long member service meetings to pressure members to upgrade, it was discovered that my monthly payment has been adjusted to include the downpayment. No one contacted me of this. I would have only noticed NSF from being overdrawn on my bank statements after the fact.

Two months ago Coral in Las Vegas asked me to get a copy of a credit card statement showing the money going to Fairfield (Barefoot Landing was the name used). I did just as she asked. I received a certified letter which showed that Fairfield had set up an account for the downpayment. I questioned it and Coral told me to ignore it, because it was computer generated and that my account was still in research. Then she asked for any statement showing where I had made some kind of payment.

Nothing else came to me about the adjustment. Last week I spoke to Coral while in Florida by phone. We were suppose to three-way MBNA so that she could see that I have been paying the downpayment. She put me on hold for fifteen minutes and then hung up. I called her back and she pretended to just get cut off and then told me that she wanted me to speak with her supervisor who could help me with the credit card company.

Her supervisor got on the phone, did not want to hear what I had to say, basically talked down to me like I was a dog, and would not allow me to say anything. She did manage ask for any statement showing where I had made some kind of payment or the adjustment to my monthly payment would remain. I called Myrtle Beach and spoke with Mr. Young. He told me that he did not recieve my fax. He asked me what number I faxed it to and I read the fax number from the business card he had given me. The fax number was WRONG! He gave me the correct number asked me to get another statement faxed and to call him when it was being faxed.

Just today I was on the phone again. MBNA faxed a recent statement to Fairfield Financial Service department and I called Fairfield to let them know. I spoke to someone else in the Downpayment Resolutions Department who told me he would get the MBNA statement and work with Coral in researching to see where the money was going and that I would hear from Coral today. Well, today has passed and no phone call from Coral came.

I even called back to Myrtle Beach to try to get help. Mr. Young was too busy to come to the phone so Jason Warren took the call. He was one who promised to help, but he brushed off and told me he could not help and to call Las Vegas.

I do not know what to do now. What started out as something good has turned into a nightmare. Fairfield is going to force me to pay one downpayment two times because I can not just stop paying MBNA nor will they refund money they said went to Fairfield Resorts (Barefoot Landing). I don't want my credit ruined because of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
