Hoffman Estates ripoff Withholding degree with 4 weeks to go Internet

Both my husband and I have attended AIU On-Line and neither have a degree. I was assured that I would get me BIT if I gave the $50.00 the day I spoke with a representative of the company - she had to have the money that day because the committee would be meeting and she would beg them to consider my application. I was accepted and was told that there would be no problems with finances because they had some really creative finance people who could get me all of the student aid that I could use - that did not happen.

Everything always happened at the last minute - a call from someone saying that we have a problem and I would need to sign more student loan papers that evening or I would have to withdraw, after a year of taking classes. I have no idea how much money it cost me to maintain a near perfect 4.0 and sit here with nothing to show for it.

I paid the school a monthly payment because I did not want student loans - the payment jumped from $158 a month to $666 in no time at all and the original 13 month course went to 30 months because the credits that I had did not transfer. I could have clepped out of all of the classes but that meant taking off of work and paying $50.00 a clep. Maddening and I am so frustrated.

My husband is due to complete his degree - BIT - in July but... He got a call today telling him that if he does not come up with an additional $8,000 he will have to withdraw - it would appear that Sally Mae is looking a little closer into how much money they are giving to AIU. His financial aid person recommended that we take out a second mortgage on our home or have his boss co-sign a loan and any number of things to raise their $8,000. She stopped short of telling him to sell a kidney or a child.

We both gave our all and when we had to take an Art class or Latin Culture class it was turning into a joke. We have more books now than you can shake a stick at - we took the same classes but could not use the same books - $540.00 a module ($1080 a module for both of us).

We will send information to Sally May asking them to help us with this enormous debt that we have ammassed. They may not be able to help us but need to know what people are getting for all of this loan money and why so many people are refusing to pay for something that they do not have.

This much money for nothing is just incredible to me. We honestly thought that we would be able to earn a degree and use it to get better jobs but at the end of the day - this paper is worthless, not transferrable to another school and not worth much to our companies.

I would love to get involve with a class action suit against AIU but have searched the internet and can't find one.
