On examining my Experian credit report today, I noticed an inquiry had been made by National Magazine Exchange. I have opted-out of promotional credit inquiries and did not give permission for them to access my credit report.
This is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and there are penalties under 616. Civil liability for willful noncompliance [15 U.S.C. 1681n].
I'm going after these slimeballs! In the meantime, watch your credit reports folks...
