Combined Insurance Company Of America
Ripoff

I have written before about Combined Insurance. I worked for them for approximately 6 months. I have had some problems with getting paid for Bonus programs that I participated in and successfully achieved the Bonus criteria. But, No Pay! This happened to me 3 times in the 6 months that I was with the company. Let me explain. I want to be fair and I want to tell the truth so everybody that reads this will know what is going on and that it is the un-biased truth.!

First of all when you are hired you sign a contract that states that you will be paid no less than $5200.00 or in other words no less than 400.00 per week while you are training the 13 weeks. There are some requirements in the contract that you have to sell so many accident policies and so many health policies to qualify for this money. I asked about this and said, "this is probably set up where you can't sell this many policies, so you won't get that much per week", "is that right?" The answer given to me, and my wife was, "don't worry about that, If you give your best effort and we know that you tried everyday then you will get this pay, we will see to that." This was said by the Regional Manager Jesus Vega and The District Manager, Ken Davenport. It was said to me and my wife. Well guess what? At the end of the 13 week training, I got NO Pay! They said that I didn't fulfill the contract and when I told them that they said they would pay me if I made an effort, the told me "we did not say that". They are doing the same thing to a new employee right now named Chris. But it is worse with him. Ken Davenport told him that he would get 450.00 a week! He said, "I will throw in 50.00 dollars a week of my own money!" He will not get that either. It is sad. Now the next thing was a bonus program that if you sold 5 policies in 5 consecutive days you got a 200.00 bonus. 7 policies in 7 days you got 400.00 dollars and 10 in 10 days you got 750.00 and 20 in 20 days you got 1000.00. I achieved the 10 application bonus and was never paid! Later in the year, on December 13th they ran the program again and I sold 9 in 9 days and qualified for the 400.00 bonus. Guess what? No Bonus!!! Are you getting the picture? A person named Eric Aubeshon was an excellent employee and he quit because he didn't get his bonuses. I have now quit as well. And I am sure that Chris will quit too as soon as he finds out that he will not be getting his 13 week bonus as well. I imagine that there is some law that they are breaking by doing this and I am going to contact my attorney and find out. If anybody wants to know what I find out then let me know and I will contact you. My distict manager Ken Davenport told the person in charge of the State Bonnie Jenson that I didn't get may bonus and she said that they had no proof that I sold the polocies. I turned in my paper with the buyers names and address on it as well as the policy numbers sold to a distict manager, Buzz Samford. He mailed that in with payroll and they should have it, but convienently have misplaced it, I'm sure.

Heres the kicker, combined has gotten in trouble so many times over Ghost weeks.By putting someone on the payroll when they are not working! It is STILL going on! I have been used as a ghost week and I was told on several occasions to go and collect premium in another persons name so it would show that that person worked that week! This ensures the managers bonuses! This type of practice happened to me and others in our district on many occasions and is still happening.

There is one sales Manager who is a drunk and he has worked drunk and even drank on the job while training a new agent! He said, I havent' drank in a long time and this is hitting me, just take me home and you can canvas the rest of the day. The district manager Ken Davenport went and got him and took him to a rehab center to get help. About 3 days later Ken took 2 new agents to the rehab center to pick the drunk up. When they were leaving he asked the newest guy if he wanted to go work with "the drunk" today? Chris said, "do you think he is up too selling policies today?" Ken replied, "Some of his best days is when he just gets out of rehab." You will make some money today! Now, isn't that something? No wonder they cant keep anyone, huh. Now one of the false manweeks that I covered for was for the drunk!!! There are plenty more unlawful and unethical practices going on in my district, but to be honest, I am tired of typing. Just think twice before you get hooked in with combined. There are some good people that are employed with the company, don't get me wrong, but in my district and region, they are few and far between. I will update you on the situation when I talk to my attorney.
