Memberworks ripoff unauthorized account charges will not state whom they got credit card number from Conneticut

I saw a $16.99 charge from my visa check card on my checking account from 'Simple Escapes'. Never heard of them.

I looked on the internet and found their number along with links to complaints against them.

I called and spoke with a very rude lady who said that I subscribed to them when I ordered something off of the television in November. I didn't order anything this past November.in fact, the last time I ordered from the TV it was dvd's for a Christmas gift in 2003. When I asked her what company gave her my account info. To charge to, she said that she didn't know. When I demanded to speak to a manager, she refused and said that they wouldn't even take my call because they didn't know either.

She said she would refund the money to my account and cancel my membership. Apparently, it's some kind of discount membership program.

We'll wait and see what happens next.
